This paved the way for United By Blue in 2010, an outdoor brand committed to conservation and sustainability. Under Brian's leadership, United By Blue flourished, earning recognition from Bloomberg Business Week and the Wall Street Journal. Today, as co-founder of Ferncrest, Brian channels his passion for the outdoors into creating unforgettable guest experiences.

Joanna's entrepreneurial journey began in the fashion industry with roles at Macy's and Urban Outfitters. She later co-founded United By Blue and led product there for 7 years. Inspired by her experiences as a mother, Joanna launched Rae's Roots, a wellness tea brand crafted to support moms during every stage of motherhood. As co-founder of Ferncrest, Joanna integrates her passion for wellness and creativity into every facet of the brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

We hope to start with owner-operator franchisees. This allows for active management of a small support staff that can be employee-based or contracted to maintain property and be guest-ready year-round.

Yes. We believe some owners will operate multiple units. We offer discounts on initial franchise fees for owners who commit up front to more than one campground.

At least 3 acres, but ideally 10 acres. We have specific site criteria which will help you evaluate real estate that would be a good fit for your Ferncrest Campground.

Between 6 and 12 months depending how quickly you prepare the property, complete our pre-opening process, and attend training. Some training can be completed remotely.

Typically between 1 and 3 full-time and part-time employees — maintenance, housekeeping, and reception round out the team. The campground does not require overnight staffing, allowing for work-life balance.

Due to its roots in real estate, there are good financing options available. We have a partnership with an excellent financial institution and would happily connect you to explore your options.
