We’re looking for someone obsessed with content.
Not someone who spends a lot of time on social media. Someone who studies it. You notice hooks. You think about retention. When you see a video that works, you can’t help picking apart why, and you’re already thinking about how you’d make it better.
You probably make content yourself. Maybe you’ve worked for another creator or founder. Maybe you’ve grown an account of your own.
You may want to build your own thing someday. Good. We like that.
Right now, we want someone who wants a front-row seat to building companies, brands and an audience, and who can help us turn everything happening around us into great content.
We’re Brian and Joanna Linton, entrepreneurs building Linton Co. Ferncrest is our focus: a fast-growing outdoor hospitality and glamping brand. Over the last several years we’ve built hotels, glampgrounds, a franchise system, an equipment business and a handful of other businesses around hospitality.
We’ve documented a lot of that journey through @findingpromisedland, a behind-the-scenes account with more than 800,000 followers across platforms that has helped fuel millions of dollars in sales and business growth.
We see that as the starting point. There’s an opportunity to build a much larger content and media platform around entrepreneurship, hospitality, glamping, franchising, brand building and what it’s actually like to build businesses together as a husband-and-wife team. We want someone who’s excited to help us build it.
Think of yourself as our embedded content producer. You’ll spend a lot of time with us in Tampa and travel with us when there’s something worth documenting.
A meeting can become content. A property visit can become content. A conversation in the car, a business problem, a lesson from something that went horribly wrong ten years ago — all of it can become content. Part of your job is simply recognizing those moments.
But you’re not just following us around with a camera. We want you coming to us with ideas: “We should film this.” “There’s a series here.” “That thing you just said is a video.” “This worked. Let’s make five more versions.” “This isn’t working. Let’s try something completely different.”
We want someone creative, opinionated and willing to experiment.
The Role
What you'll do.
Content strategy and ideation
- Build a constant pipeline of ideas for founder channels — this includes @findingpromisedland, but will also include a new focus on direct personal channels too.
- Study what’s working across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and whatever comes next.
- Develop repeatable series and formats, not just one-off posts.
- Look at the numbers and use them to make the next piece better.
Capture
- Film Brian and Joanna regularly in Tampa, both planned content and the things that happen naturally while we’re working.
- Travel periodically to Ferncrest properties, franchise openings, events and trade shows.
- A big part of this job is being around enough that when something worth capturing happens, you’re there.
Editing
- You need to be able to edit. You don’t need to be a technical wizard.
- If you’re great in Premiere or Final Cut, wonderful. If you’re a native social creator who can make killer content fast in Edits or CapCut, that works too.
- We care far more about whether you understand pacing, hooks and storytelling than what software you use.
- You’ll keep editing yourself, especially when speed matters or you have a specific vision for a piece. But you won’t be doing it all alone.
Managing our Founder Content Editor
- Manage a dedicated editor whose job is to turn the volume of footage you’re capturing into a lot more finished content.
- Decide what gets made, give creative direction, hand off footage, review edits and develop the editor over time.
- The goal is a Producer + Editor combination that creates far more than either person could alone.
- As the media operation grows, there may be additional editors and creators under this role.
Publishing and distribution
- Help drive a high-frequency publishing cadence across our personal and company accounts.
- Use IG Trial Reels religiously to test new ideas, hooks and concepts, to ensure maximum distribution and impact of our content.
- Adapt ideas for Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Facebook and LinkedIn instead of posting the same thing everywhere.
- Work closely with our Director of Marketing & Growth so the attention we’re generating connects to the larger business — without every post turning into an ad.
- Your primary job is building attention, audience and trust.
What this job is not
- This isn’t a traditional social media manager role. You won’t spend your days making Canva graphics, building monthly calendars and waiting for approvals.
- You’re also not just a videographer. Knowing how to make something look beautiful is valuable. Knowing what’s worth filming in the first place is more valuable.
- And you’re not the marketing department. Our Director of Marketing & Growth owns the larger marketing and growth engine. You own the founder content engine.
What success looks like
- An always-on content engine that produces multiple pieces of content every day without any of it feeling manufactured.
- Brian and Joanna become significantly more prolific creators.
- We consistently publish multiple pieces every day.
- Our audience grows and our storytelling gets better.
- We develop recognizable recurring series.
- We’re constantly experimenting with new formats.
- One great conversation turns into five, ten or twenty pieces of content.
- The Founder Content Editor dramatically increases our output.
- Content increasingly drives awareness, trust, opportunities and business growth.
- Longer term, this role can grow from producing our content into helping lead a much larger media operation.
Travel
Periodic travel to Ferncrest properties, franchise openings, events and trade shows.
You
Who we're looking for.
- Understand short-form storytelling.
- Know what makes a strong hook.
- Have good instincts around pacing and retention.
- Be able to shoot and edit.
- Understand social platforms natively.
- Move fast and be highly self-directed.
- Be comfortable directing founders.
- Be willing to test a lot of ideas.
- Care about the numbers without being controlled by them.
- Be interested in entrepreneurship and business.
- Be comfortable traveling periodically.
- Be based in Tampa or willing to relocate.
Bonus, not required
- Experience with Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut, Edits, Descript and Photoshop is nice. But the tool isn’t the skill — if you can make something people can’t stop watching on your phone, we’re interested.
Fit
Who tends to thrive.
- There’s no perfect resume for this. You might have worked on another creator’s team. You might be an editor who realized you’re better at coming up with the ideas. You might have grown your own TikTok, Instagram or YouTube channel. You might have been making content since you were 16 and never thought of it as a career.
- What matters is that you’ve actually made things and you’re obsessed with getting better.
- You’re ambitious. You’re probably entrepreneurial. There’s a decent chance you want to build something of your own someday, and we don’t see that as a negative.
- This is a chance to spend the next several years inside a growing entrepreneurial company with unusual access to the founders and everything that comes with building it. The decisions, the launches, the wins, the failures, the properties, the franchisees, the customers, the problems nobody saw coming. And you’ll have permission to turn all of it into stories.
Work arrangement
This role is in person in Tampa, FL. You should be based here or willing to relocate.
Apply
How to apply.
Don’t send a traditional cover letter. Send us:
- Your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or other social profiles.
- Three pieces of content you’ve personally made that you’re proud of.
- Three creators whose content you study, and why.
- One content idea you’d make featuring Brian.
- One content idea you’d make featuring Joanna.
- A link to a short video introducing yourself and telling us why this caught your attention — Google Drive, Loom, YouTube, Dropbox, wherever it lives.
The video doesn’t need to be polished. Shoot it on your phone and send us a link — Google Drive, Loom, YouTube, whatever’s easiest. Don’t try to attach the file. We want to see how you think, how you communicate and whether you understand content.
If you’ve built an audience of your own, even a small one, we want to see it.
